Safe Bridges

Our position:  SPCS supports well-designed bridge barariers on key local bridges as one crucial safety measure in order to reduce deaths by suicide in Ithaca.  Realization of each of these opportunity barriers will require reaching a challenging balance between goo design, environmental impacts, and costs, but we believe that such a balance can and must be reached to replace or upgrade the temporary barriers in a timely fashion.  Permanent barriers can and will be more appealing than the current temporary ones.  At the same time, we call for continued and increased support of other means of preventing deaths by suicide in our community.  Full SPCS position
